G-Star: ”As soon as it gets complicated, we know we can despatch it by Van Duuren”
E-commerce is playing an increasingly important role in G-Star’s operational management. This clothing brand calls in Van Duuren for consignments for Scandinavia. ‘I can completely entrust the total logistic processes to the team in Vianen, and that gives me peace of mind,’ says Floris Langendoen of G-Star RAW.
‘We believe it’s important to offer our clients the most local possible experience,’ adds Global Logistics Manager at the Dutch G-Star. ‘Among other things, that means that our online buyers get their parcel delivered by a carrier that they know. Thanks to our collaboration with Van Duuren it is possible to deliver to Denmark and southern Sweden from Amsterdam within 48 hours.’
Van Duuren has been working with G-Star for more than ten years. ‘This began with the collection of returned goods from customers and stores,’ recalls Jeroen van Duuren. ‘We also make deliveries for G-Star at exceptional addresses such as the Canary Isles.’ Floris: ‘That’s right, and this is also characteristic of our working partnership: As soon as things get complicated, we know we can despatch our goods via Van Duuren.’ Laughing: ‘What the delivery schedules actually look like? I have no idea, but it always works out well.’
The latter also applies to the deliveries to consumers in the Scandinavian countries. At the end of every afternoon Van Duuren collects orders at the G-Star distribution centre in Amsterdam. After that, the driver sets off for the PostNord sorting centre in North Germany and arrives there in the evening. Under the coordination of Van Duuren, this transport company delivers these orders to the Swedish and Danish consumers on day two.
‘We attach importance to delivery by PostNord, because this is a name that is known by the consumer, but also because this transporter is specified within the
Zalando Partner Program,’ remarks Floris. ‘It’s very convenient for us that PostNord is affiliated with the Van Duuren network.’
In addition to the transport, Van Duuren also arranges the complete logistic process of all the orders. ‘By having open communications with Paazl, G-Star’s software supplier, we were able to set up our IT infrastructure in such a way that the orders come in to us for further processing, explains Berry Veldhuis, Account Manager at Van Duuren. ‘We select the correct goods flow, and we take care that each parcel arrives in time at the right address.’ A way of working that Floris Langendoen is more than happy about. ‘At G-Star we no longer have to give a single thought to the process, and as far as I’m concerne that is the precise meaning of good collaboration.’
