Romanian Elena Furdui (52) and Tiberiu Pop (58) have been driving for Van Duuren for more than three years.
Passion for the driving profession brought them together. “Being together 24/7 has its challenges, but we are both pushers,” says Elena. Tiberiu also thinks they complement each other well. “Every ride we drive fiftyfifty so as not to make mistakes,” he says. Elena laughs. “Well, maybe it’s 60-40 for me because I do all the cooking!” Tiberiu: “Touché, that’s right you are the better cook.” The couple drives for Van Duuren to Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. They prefer driving to Portugal, Lisbon and Porto being particular favourites. Along the way, the two experience plenty. For instance, Tiberiu remembers keeping his cool when he tried to open a trailer in Portugal using emergency codes. And Elena once danced with warehouse staff in Frankfurt while loading cargo for Barcelona. Driving for Van Duuren can also be great fun.
